Page 9... The idea behind what is happening here, is that the dragon is more or less calming down-- coming to his senses. He has been released, and like a wild animal who has been set free in an unfamiliar territory, he had initially reacted wildly, attacking and spazzing out at everything. He obviously comes from somewhere else... At this point, now that he has calmed-- he is looking around, realizing that there is no immediate threat. But also, he smells something. Something familiar from his origin... But that comes later.
